About Dr. James A. Snyder, DDS, MS - Dentist and Anesthesiologist
Dr. James Snyder is a Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and is one of only a few dentists to be both a Diplomate of the Association of Special Care Dentists and the multidisciplinary American Academy of Pain Management. These achievements reflect Dr. Snyder's primary professional interest which is combining comprehensive dental care with state-of-the-art pain and anxiety control, serving even those patients who have serious chronic medical problems or other compromising conditions. Dr. Snyder is also a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Dentists and the Academy of General Dentistry. His undergraduate degree in chemistry came from Allegheny College and his dental degree from the Ohio State University. Dr. Snyder served in the United States Navy and then completed his residency in anesthesiology at George Washington University Medical Center and later earned a Master of Science degree in Health Sciences. He is the author of numerous professional publications including chapters in two internationally recognized textbooks. Dr. Snyder has lectured internationally on pain and anxiety control in dentistry. He and his wife, Wendy, live in Alexandria.
