How We Work – A Guide to the Center for Dental Anesthesiology in Virginia

The Center for Dental Anesthesiology, comprised of Dr. James Snyder and associates Dr. Susie Kruse and Dr. Dennis Ahl, is pleased to provide patients with exceptional dental care and a range of sedation dentistry and full anesthesia options.  We invite you to read about how our practice works and then contact us to schedule a consultation with one of our dentists.

Start with a Consultation…

We serve patients from the entire Washington, D.C. area, Virginia and Maryland, including Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church and surrounding communities.

Every patient is different. That’s why you will start with a “Let’s Get Acquainted” consultation at your initial visit. We want to understand how we can best meet your needs and give you a chance to get to know us. That first visit includes:

  • Special Guest Tour of the Office and Introductions to Our Staff
  • Careful Listing of Your Needs and Concerns
  • Smile Analysis
  • Complete Diagnostic X-rays
  • Intra-oral Video Examination – (Computerized photos of your teeth)
  • Gum Disease Check
  • Complete Evaluation of Sedation/Anesthesia Needs
  • Oral Cancer Exam
  • Tooth Shade Analysis
  • Evaluation of the Alignment and Spacing of Your Teeth
  • Coordination of any Special or General Medical Concerns

Developing a Treatment Plan

Using the information we gather during your initial consultation and comprehensive exam, we develop a treatment plan addressing your needs and desires. Your treatment plan prioritizes your care:

  • First, Eliminate any Pain or Discomfort
  • Second, Eliminate any Active Cavities or Infection
  • Third, Restore Function and Insure Proper Alignment and Bite
  • Fourth, Provide any Desired Cosmetic Services to Improve the Appearance of Your Smile
  • Finally, Develop a Plan to Minimize Future Dental Disease

You will be involved in the treatment planning every step of the way. Together we will develop a plan that meets your clinical needs and fits your budget. If you ever have any questions or concerns please let your dentist know immediately.

Dental Emergencies

We will always address any emergency issues immediately. You will never be asked to endure any pain or discomfort unnecessarily. Once any emergency issues have been addressed then we will schedule a consultation for a more comprehensive assessment and diagnosis. We have dentists on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week serving Alexandria, Washington, D.C., Arlington, Falls Church, and surrounding areas.
