Dentistry for Those with Disabilities and Medical Needs Alexandria

ASDA_241.JPGFor people with underlying medical problems or disabilities dental care can be difficult or impossible to get. We see these patients every day and complete their dental treatment in complete comfort and safety at the Center for Dental Anesthesiology (CDA) in Alexandria, Virginia, serving the entire Washington, D.C. area.

Patients with medical problems (or their caregivers) may be especially anxious about dental work. They may worry about how they will tolerate the time in the chair or how their medications can be managed along with the dental care. For example, some patients need IV antibiotics to protect the heart, transplanted organ, or artificial joint every time he or she has dental work. This patient would  typically have to go to an IV medication center for the antibiotics and then see the dentist withing a specified period of time - every time. This is very tedious and time consuming. At the CDA we simply administer the IV antibiotics in our office and proceed with the treatment.

We see patients with a variety of medical problems ranging from simple to very complex every day. We collaborate with primary care physicians and specialists to provide the safest and most comprehensive care. We can easily administer IV antibiotics and other necessary drugs. With the proper sedation or anesthesia, even patients with complex medical problems can get the dental treatment they need safely and comfortable.
